Action Coordinator
The Actions Unit of Greenpeace East Asia is responsible for bringing our campaign strategies to life, through inspiring, attention-grabbing offline tactics - including direct action, direct communication, protest and artistic intervention - in order to create a just, sustainable future for all.
As Action Coordinator, your role is to facilitate the creation of innovative tactics for campaign impact. You'll work with diverse campaign teams and lead the planning and coordination of offline events, and ensure we have the resources and knowledge needed to successfully implement it.
Action Coordinators utilise skills and knowledge from the arts, industrial climbing, marine operations including diving, project management, field logsitics, drones, and new tech. One person won't have all of this, so it's key for our Action Coordinators to have a strong appetitte for learning and trying new things, and be able to effectively research, engage and work with specialists and experts. This role also contributes to the managment and growth of our activist network and related programs, including running trainings, identifying opportunities for recrutiment and growth, and creating pathways for volunteers to contribute and lead strategic actions.

Responsibilities:
•Design, plan and implement (from idea formulation to logistics coordination) creative and effective non-violent direct action to help Greenpeace achieve its campaign objectives at local, national and international level;
•Provide strategic and tactical input in campaign and project planning processes relating to the use of NVDA;
•Recruit, cultivate and manage a group of volunteers and activists and motivate them to participate in Greenpeace actions and activities; •Organize and coordinate action training for staff and volunteers;
•Carry out risk assessments
•Support field research and rapid response projects in environmental hotspots.
Requirements:
• work experience in related fields (NGOs, activist/advocacy groups, event management, logistics, or creative industry) and preferably with experience in social action; • Strong commitment to Greenpeace values especially environmental activism;
• Good analytical and strategic thinking abilities;
• Demonstrated ability to deliver projects on time and within budget;
• Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to work well as part of a team;
• Understanding of the environmental, socio-political and cultural situations of South Korea
• Willingness to travel
• Technical skills and experiences in driving, boating, climbing, diving, swimming, first aid, electronic and mechanical equipment etc. will be an asset;
• Bachelor’s Degree or above;
• Fluency in written and spoken English and Korean.
The position will be based in Seoul, with occasional travel to other places

- 2년 자체 기간제 계약직(그린피스 내부 규정상, 전직원은 2년 자체 계약직으로 입사. 2년이 도래하는 시점에 평가를 거쳐 정규직 전환 혹은 계약만료)

PURPOSE and SCOPE OF THE JOB
Overall purpose of the job
The Action Coordinator is a member of the Greenpeace East Asia Action Team, primarily
responsible for furthering Greenpeace East Asia's campaign objectives through ongoing
strategic and tactical planning with Greenpeace campaigners and the deployment of
innovative, creative, confrontational and inspirational non-violent direct actions. He or she
is responsible for working directly with the Head of Action Unit and programme staff in
evaluating appropriate tactics and timing for these events based on campaign strategies
and objectives.
Scope
This role is very detail-oriented, involves multiple concurrent daily deadlines and tasks,
and requires ability to perform under pressure and in physically or mentally challenging
situations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Conceptual tasks, Strategy development and/or Project management
Provide strategic advice on the use of NVDA, activities and events in campaign projects.
Keep abreast of useful information, resources, equipment, tools, technical and
technological development in related fields, to ensure action capacity is up-to-date.
Develop training programs to ensure action capacity is maintained
Implementation
Plan, develop and implement creative and effective actions, activities and events to
support campaign goals.
Provide thorough and professional assessment of the local legal, political and cultural
situations that may affect the NVDA, activities and events, and develop mitigation
strategies and plans accordingly
Maintain, develop and properly manage action warehouse, equipment and inventory
Provide logistical support for Greenpeace fieldwork, activities and events
Liaise with other Greenpeace offices and Greenpeace International for action-related
issues.
Support/ Coaching/ Leadership
recruit, cultivate and manage a group of volunteers and activists and motivate them to
participate in Greenpeace actions and activities
Deliver action training for staff and activists.
Compliance/ Keeping Framework Conditions
Ensure protocols of action planning and implementation are properly followed
Ensure that actions are comprehensively reviewed and/or evaluated as per internal
evaluation process
Ensure all NVDA adhere to the agreed safety standards
Manage contractors as required in compliance with Greenpeace East Asia policies.

Work environment
The post holder works in a standard office environment, and is required to travel to other
Greenpeace offices, campaign locations or locations where environmental problems
require the presence of Greenpeace representatives.
The post holder will be required to work under pressure and in physically or mentally
challenging situations.
Be on call after hours and on weekends as requested.
Preferred Candidate Profile
At least 2 years of work / hands-on experience in related fields (NGOs, activist/advocacy
groups, event management, logistics, creative industry) and experience in social action
is highly preferred
Skills and experiences in driving, boating, climbing, diving, swimming, first aid, electronic
and mechanical equipment etc. will be an asset
